Swap Til You Drop!
The Fun Way to be Kind to Your Budget
Register here to participate in the clothing swap at noon on Saturday:
Swapping is Fun, Easy, and the Most Economical way to get the Things You Need!
Swapping Basics--
Take those great-looking outfits you never wear out of the back of your closet. Ask yourself honestly if you will ever wear it or if you would rather have something else. Dig out those gorgeous shoes that have been in the closet still in the box for a year because they're too tight. Sundresses, office attire, cool jeans, jackets, and pretty sweaters are good choices. Jewelry sets make great swap items too! Maybe you have cruisewear that you don't expect to use again. Make sure that each piece of clothing is in like-new condition--no holes, stains, missing or broken buttons, no broken zippers, or pilling. Clean and press the items you want to trade and bring them to the swap on hangers.
Do the same for your children's closets. Trade in those cute outfits they outgrew overnight for something terrific in the correct size. Trade those toys they are bored with for something new-to-them.
Register for the swap (above).
Arrive by 11:00 am on Saturday (the day of the swap) to turn in your Swap items. Your items will be inspected and displayed. You will receive 1 shopping token for each like-new item you bring plus $1 per item. (For example, a suit consisting of a skirt and jacket would receive 2 shopping tokens. In exchange for the no-longer-wanted suit and $2, this shopper might take home a pretty sweater and designer jeans.)
At noon (for children's clothes and toys) and at 2:00 (for adult clothing) all swappers will be allowed into the swapping area at the same time to allow for a fair hunt. When you find the items you want to take home, proceed to the "check-out" area and trade your tokens for the items you want.
Children's clothing and toys will be swapped first at noon. Then ladies' and men's clothing at 2:00. You may buy one item for each token you have. If you only brought children's clothing and toys, you may only shop for children's clothing and toys with your tokens. Likewise, if you brought women's clothing, your tokens will buy women's clothes.
At the end of the swap, if you have not used all your tokens, you may use them to buy any remaining items from the swap. For example, if you bring 5 adult dresses and take only 3 women's items during the swap, at the end you could buy 2 children's items or 2 men's items from items left at the end of the swap. At the end of the day if you still have not used all your tokens, keep them and use them at the end of other swapping events.
